In the initial 8 weeks, the brain, lung and heart systems are formed so it is best to not have any medicines entering the baby via your blood.

If your doctor is aware that you are pregnant and prescribes medication, it is advisable to take it in the manner described. After all, the healthier that you are, the healthier your baby is more likely to be. It may also be of benefit to try more traditional or alternative forms of medication in attempting to feel better.

There are some elements of medication during pregnancy that is perfectly viable but in attempting to ward off a cold, it is best to drink as much water as possible. Staying comfortable and applying cold compresses can be a way to reduce any discomfort you may be experiencing and will hopefully provide relief without resorting to medication during pregnancy.
